In order to exploit the Browser application, we need to bypass the browser version check, which is designed to disallow the use of the browser without updating to the latest system version.

A public proxy server is available, which, with the help of the SSLoth exploit, can bypass this check.

Once the bypass is active, an exploit webpage will be accessible which will do the rest of the job.

Compatibility Notes

SSLoth allows users on version 11.13.0 and below to bypass the browser version check, allowing the use of new-browserhax or old-browserhax (compatible with versions 11.4.0 through 11.13.0 in all regions), which can then be used in conjunction with universal-otherapp.

Sección I - Preparativos

In this section, you will copy the files needed to trigger both browserhax and universal-otherapp.

  1. Apaga tu consola
  2. Inserta tu tarjeta SD en tu computadora
  3. Copy otherapp.bin to the root of your SD card and rename it to arm11code.bin
    • La raíz de tu tarjeta SD se refiere al primer directorio de la tarjeta, donde puedes ver la carpeta Nintendo 3DS pero no estás dentro de ella
    • If you do not see the .bin extension, do not add it to the end of the filename
  4. Copia los archivos boot.firm y boot.3dsx desde el .zip de Luma3DS a la raíz de tu tarjeta SD
  5. Crea una carpeta llamada boot9strap en la raíz de tu tarjeta SD
  6. Copia boot9strap.firm y boot9strap.firm.sha desde el .zip de boot9strap a la carpeta /boot9strap/ en tu tarjeta SD
  7. Copia SafeB9SInstaller.bin desde el .zip de SafeB9SInstaller a la raíz de tu tarjeta SD
  8. Reinsert your SD card into your console
  9. Power on your console

Section II - SSLoth

In this section, you will change your Internet connection settings to use a proxy network designed to bypass the browser version check, allowing the browser to function without a system update. This will allow you to access the browser exploit webpage in the next section.

Si aún no lo has hecho, asegúrate de tener una conexión a Internet activa en tu consola.

  1. Entra a Configuración de la Consola
  2. Ve a Configuración de internet -> Conexión a internet
  3. Elige la conexión que corresponda y ve a Modificar ajustes -> Siguiente página (flecha derecha) -> Servidor proxy
  4. Cambia la opción de “Configuración de servidor proxy” a “Sí”, luego ve a “Ajustes avanzados”
  5. Establece el Servidor proxy a ssloth.nintendohomebrew.com, y el Puerto a 8080
  6. Toca en Aceptar, luego en Guardar
  7. Cuando se muestre, elige “Sí” a realizar la prueba de conexión
    • La prueba debiera de ser exitosa
  8. Elige “Aceptar” para continuar
  9. Press “Back” twice, then “Close” to go back to the HOME Menu

Section III - Launching SafeB9SInstaller

In this section, you will visit the browser exploit webpage, which will use universal-otherapp to launch the boot9strap (custom firmware) installer.

  1. On the HOME Menu, press the Left and Right shoulder buttons at the same time to open the camera
    • If you are unable to open the camera, open the Internet Browser and manually type the URL instead (https://zoogie.github.io/web/nbhax/)
  2. Tap the QR code button and scan this QR code
  3. Tap the “PROCEED TO HAXX” button
  4. Si el exploit ha funcionado, habrás iniciado SafeB9SInstaller

Section IV - Installing boot9strap

En esta sección, instalarás custom firmware en tu consola.

  1. Cuando se te pida, introduce la combinación de botones mostrada para instalar boot9strap
  2. Una vez completado, pulsa (A) para reiniciar tu consola
  3. Tu consola debería haber iniciado en el menú de configuración de Luma3DS
    • En el menú de configuración de Luma3DS están los ajustes para el custom firmware Luma3DS. La mayoría de estos ajustes son para customizar o para debugging
    • Para los fines de esta guía, deja estas opciones en los valores por defecto (no marques ni desmarques nada)
    • Si la consola se apaga cuando intentas encenderla, asegúrate de que copiaste boot.firm desde el archivo .zip de Luma3DS a la raíz de tu tarjeta SD
  4. Presiona (Start) para guardar y reiniciar

Section V - Restoring default proxy

En esta sección, restaurarás la configuración de Internet a su estado original.

  1. Entra a Configuración de la Consola
  2. Ve a Configuración de internet -> Conexión a internet
  3. Elige la conexión que corresponda y ve a Modificar ajustes -> Siguiente página (flecha derecha) -> Servidor proxy
  4. Cambia “Configuración del servidor proxy” a “No”
  5. Toca en Aceptar, luego en Guardar
  6. Cuando se muestre, elige “Sí” a realizar la prueba de conexión
    • La prueba debiera de ser exitosa
  7. Apaga tu consola

En este punto, tu consola arrancará en Luma3DS por defecto.

  • Luma3DS no se ve distinto del Menú HOME normal. Si tu consola ha encendido y muestra el Menú HOME, está ejecutando custom firmware.
  • En la siguiente página, instalarás aplicaciones útiles de homebrew para completar la instalación.
